Karate

Katie has been taking karate now for 2 months. She does one day at school and on Saturdays Bill takes her to the Dojo. She has really enjoyed it and is doing very well.
This is her mean face - she does that really well - Master Eric loves it.
She has received her 5 stripes on her first belt and will be moving up to her new belt next week.
Her stripes are for Focus, Coordination, Memory, Control and Fitness.

We are all very proud of her - keep it up kiddo.

Santa

Well it only took two visits to get her to sit on Santa's lap. She felt brave enough with her pillow pet and hello kitty.
They were having a nice little conversation.
I think he was admiring her pillow pet. She did ask Santa for another pillow pet - the lady bug. She doesn't have a tail and will not bother her while she is sleeping like the unicorn.

What a great age.

Tooth Fairy

Katie lost her first tooth Friday - she lost it at school and was such a big girl about it.
The tooth fairy came and gave her some money and a certificate for taking good care of her teeth.
Our little girl is growing up so fast.

Happy Birthday Katie

Well better late then never - Happy Birthday Katie. 5 years old - what a big girl
Katie helped make cupcakes for her party. No one complained about the egg shells so I guess she is getting better :)
She had her party at Bounce U. I think every one had a great time.
The slide was a big hit - for the little and big people.

Uncle Scott and Uncle George dove right into the bounce house and kept things alive. They had no mercy on each other but did take it easy on the little guys.
Her birthday tiara - what a princess
Say cheese, Thank you to every one who came out and celebrated with us.
After words my brothers and their families came back to the house
We had a pinata ( or piranha as Katie says )
Then we opened some presents - always fun for the birthday girl
Timmy helped Katie read her birthday cards - thanks Tim
She received a mail package from her Aunt Lisa and family - Barbie.
A surprise card from her cousins Janet and Bob - a whole dollar bill - she carried it around for hours before we got her to put it into her piggy bank - thanks guys
The big hits were her pillow pet - "Unicorny" which she takes every where. And her Zhu Zhu pets and place area
Again - thanks to every one who shared in her special day.

Dancing

Katie started taking ballet and tap at school. They have an instructor come right to her day care and she has a 45 minute lesson once a week. This is her first day.
She is so intense. Following the teachers every move. I wish she would listen to me like that.

She did so well, and looks sooo cute. She has a recital in the spring - can't wait.

Knoebels

Well I have heard a lot about Knoebel's. Katie went at the beginning of the summer with my parents and Bill and I decided we should go. Katie was all excited - it was a long day but we had a great time.
Papa was her best from the day - that was until he soaked her on the log flume.
Katie enjoyed climbing on the bridge.
Not sure Bill felt the same way - but he went anyway.
On the little whip.
The little bug ride.
I think she got a little bored and was making funny faces
The small train ride.
The big slide - it was a great ride down - walking up was a different story. We did it once together then she went down by herself - she is getting to be such a big girl.
These remind me a lot of rides we went on as kids. I can hear my mom now yelling at my brother - keep you hands out of the water!
Bill got to take Katie for a short boat ride - she didn't want to steer.
Katie decided to take Papa with her on the big roller coaster - this is probably the biggest one she's been on so far.
Not quite sure if she enjoyed it or not. She said it was fun but didn't want to go back on it.
The buccaneer - wish I didn't go on this on.
The big whip - yeehaa
The log flume - must of went on this one 4 -5 times - the water was really cold.

Antique cars - again didn't want to drive
but then she drove the little go carts - she was amazing - first time on something like this and she did great.

A little mining for gold - she had a blast with this.
What a great day - definitely look forward to going back again next year.

Philadelphia Zoo

Katie and I met my parents at the Philadelphia Zoo a few weeks ago. We went mid-week so it wasn't crowded but it was hot. Thankfully the zoo is fairly shaded so it wasn't too bad. Katie was a little cranky - she was hot and tired from a bad nights sleep - and she kept asking about going on rides.
The rhino was actually up and moving around - which was nice to see. Boy is he a big guy.
These little frogs were so small and cute. They would just hang on the bottom of the leaves - at first we thought the exhibit was closed until Katie spotted them on the leaves.
The baby giraffe was out - very cute following her mom very closely

Huge gorillas - this one is just chilling in her food bowl.
Checking out the animals
They still had the Lego exhibit going on. It was pretty amazing and life-like.
Polar bear
Penguins
Monkeys
Finally - the rides. The carousel was gorgeous.
She rode on a butterfly.
Then the swan paddle boats
