Little Green Fingers

Bill bought some little pots, potting soil and seeds. He was showing Katie had to plant them and care from them. They planted lettuce, tomato, and green bean seeds. Within 2 days they were starting to sprout. I just don't know where he plans on putting them outside now?

We went to the Liberty Science Center this past weekend. Katie had fun, although I am not sure she really learned anything.
They have a ton of hands on activities for the kids and adults. She can't do what she is supposed to at the stations but that doesn't stop her from touching everything. Here she is digging trenches in the Hudson River. She liked putting her hands in the water.

This is a special touch wall. It takes your heat and puts it into an image. Most people place their hands on the wall but Bill decided to place Katie on the wall. I wish the picture had come out better/clearer.
She loves to paint. They had a slate wall with some water on - what a great idea. We may do this in the backyard.
And of course to big pit of rice - loves to dig.

She had a great time then passed out in the car on the way home. What fun to be a kid again.

Rollerskating

We went rollerskating tonight. Katie actually did very well. I am surprised that I didn't fall several times but we both managed to go around the ring three times with out any bodily harm, and I think we had a good time doing it.

Train show

Sunday we went to the Greenberg train show in Edison NJ. Katie was able to ride on this "real" train.
I think the highlight of the show for her was playing with this yellow balloon. It started out as a balloon dog but unraveled into a straight balloon - which was then made into a hat
If you can't see - Elmo is the conductor.

Parade

Bill took Katie to her first parade on saturday - the St Patricks Day parade in seaside heights. They had a good time. I am sorry I missed it ( had to work ). Bill only took a few pictures, but the video is cute.

Geese

We stopped my the lake by Great adventure the other day - I wanted to feed the ducks. Well the ducks were geese and Bill wasn't very happy - he really isn't an animal person. Any way Katie had a fun time. She always loves throwing rocks into the water. She wasn't quite sure about the geese.

This is about as close as Bill would get to the geese. Don't think we will be returning here again any time soon.

Singing Katie

Katie was jamming in the car. She had her Wiggles guitar and was a crazy singing kid.

What fun. She went on for almost 10 minutes.

Swing set

Thankfully we have had some warm weather and we can play in the back yard again/ Hopefully she will get a lot of use out of the play set this simmer.

Just a little bit of static. You can hear it pooping as she moved away from the slide

Fore

Look at that form , look at that swing.

I want to stay small

We are all laying in bed last night after her bath. Katie started complaining that her legs were hurting her. Now she will do just about anything for a band-aid so we don't give too much credit to her complaining ( well unless of course we know she is actually hurt). Well there wasn't any signs of injury but she was going on for a little bit. So I played along with her for a while - asked her where it hurt and what happened. She didn't know but both her legs hurt.
So I looked over to Bill and asked " Do you think it could be growing pains". Well she starts crying hysterically and we can't understand what she is saying. Finally we get her to calm down to where we can understand her and she says " I want to stay small". Bill and I start laughing and try comforting her. She was fine in a few minutes but boy the things she hears and the way her little mind interprets them are amazing.

Washing Moms car

What a great little helper - she just dove right in and washed my car. Boy I hope she doesn't grow out of that.

Bike riding

Today was a gorgeous day. Katie said she wanted to stay inside all day but she didn't have a choice. As soon as I got home from work I dragged her outside. Once outside we had a grand old time. She played on her swing set in the back yard, washed my car, walked to Wawa for some ice cream and even rode her tricycle.
What a great day.

SNOW

All day Monday Katie said she wanted to stay inside. It was pretty cold and windy so I was OK with that. Well she decided at 5:30 that she wanted to go out and play in the snow. The sun was starting to set so I quick bundled her out for a few minutes outside.

Bill spent about a total of 2 1/2 hours outside removing snow from our driveway and some of the neighbors also. Here you can get a little idea of how deep the snow is.
She had fun walking in the snow - didn't mind walking two steps and falling. It was deep and difficult to walk in. She had her shovel and basket - she was all set.

Backyard playground

Ha d a little over a foot of snow on Monday. Everything looked pretty. Jibe had a little bit of a tough time with it. i don't know why she had to traverse the whole back yard though.

Pirate Smowman

Katie has this great story about snowmen. One of the pictures in the book is of a snow pirate. She has been talking about building one for months. We had a few failed attempts this season, but we gave it one more try. It wasn't the prettiest but its a pirate.

ARRRRRRRR!!!

Maybe next year we'll make a better one. We need to get/make a really good patch and a sturdier hat. I will be on the look out this halloween season.

Sledding

We woke up Sunday morning to a surprise - snow ( Little did I know that monday morning we would wake up to a blizzard) Well we bundled the kid up and headed for one of the "hills" in Howell. We each took a turn carrying the sled up the hill. Bill came down with her and so did I. I actually thought she would want to spend more time sledding but I think she was anxious to build her snow man.
