We have been dying eggs since the beginning of the month - 3 separate batches. The ones above are the typical PAAS dye - tablet placed in cup with water and vinegar. She did a great job with the basic colors then mixed them up a little at the end. She also named them all - from sparkle, to rainbow, to earth. The eggs below are a newer type of tying i guess - you place the dye like liquid packet into a plastic bag then drop the egg in and mix it all around ( Katie didn't like this way as much)Thursday, April 28, 2011

Great Adventure
Well this past weekend was the start of a new season at six flags. Katie is now tall enough to go on some big rides. We bought our season passes and went saturday to get our IDs. The wait was about an hour, so while Bill waited on line, Katie and I went on the parachate jump. She wasn't at all scared - going to be a great year.
Some of her favorite rides were either gone or closed for the day. There used to be this huge jungle area to climb and slide on but they took that out - she was very sad. She also wanted to go on the log flume but we told her it was too cold ( which it was). We went on a few others, saw a show, ate dinner then headed home. Katie and I went back on Sunday - hey its free now why not. She ran up to and hugged Bugs Bunny - something she wouldn't do last year.
WHAT FUN

Hello Kitty
Fire
So for some time now Katie has been afraid that our house is going to go on fire. I think it's been since fire safety in school started - about 5 months ago. How do you tell a 5 year old that she has nothing to worry about - I promise her that there will be no fires in the house, which I am not sure is a good thing but what else can you do. She is worried about all her "sleep friends" burning in the fire and who will save them. This had been going on for a while - to the point were she was crying at night. I am not sure if some of her worries was just a stall tactic to delay going to sleep or true fear - she does seem genuinely concerned.
So after a few weeks something had to be done. I told her of this special spray she can put on her sleep friends that would keep them safe if we had a fire. Again not sure if this is the best thing but had to do something. So a conjured up this magical spray ( the forced air cans that you use to clean your keyboard) wrapped it in tape and drew a no fire label - she believes it and that's all that matters.
We sprayed Hello Kitty first - worked like a charm. The spray made her feel cold and I told her that is how it works to keep the fire away. We sprayed all her sleep friends then her blankets.
Is it wrong of me to lie to her? I just hate seeing her worry so much. I would be happy if any one had any other ideas. Now she is worried about bad guys coming into the house - ugh. Why can't she just be a care-free kid!
