Backyard

I am in love with our backyard. I can't wait until it really starts cooling off to do some serious landscaping. We put up a hummingbird feeder and have had a pair of hummingbirds come every day.
Gorgeous flowers.
We have gold finch that will come and pick at the center of these flowers - these are one of the only flowers that the deer haven't eaten. The rest of the flowers are all chewed off stems.
Afternoon visitors. They are helping themselves to the bird food. I don't mind.
This one is up at Nana's. They are used to people and will tolerate us a lot better then the ones in our backyard. We will see how we do over the years - maybe we can befriend a few.

Nana & Papa's

Well Nana and Papa are up for the summer. They have their little "cottage" in PA. It is great having them so close.
Papa is reading the comics to Katie.
There was a concert one night. Katie loves to dance.
All the cousins got together for Zachery's birthday. It was great to have them all in one place - doesn't happen too often.
Cake and presents.
Playing after the rain.
Playing games.
Taking the dog for a walk.
Camp fire
And smores' woohoo
Nothing like the great outdoors to bring every one together :)

The new cardboard box

Doesn't take much to have fun when you are 4 1/2. She played with this frame for 1/2 an hour.
"Mamma watch this"
"Are you watching Mamma?"
"Isn't this cool "
"This is the greatest toy ever!"

Hurricane Harbor

One of the best purchases this summer was a season pass to hurricane harbor. We will go for an hour after work or an hour or two in the morning before it gets too crazy. Its been perfect in this awful heat. She'll do the lazy river, wave pool, pirate cove area and also these crazy water slides - she is amazing. Just loves the water.
She must of went down these slides over twenty times in the span of an hour. ( she passed out that night - it was great.)
Didn't care too much about getting her face wet at the bottom, although she did not like it when the water sprayed on her - but she is getting better with that.
Here she is crab walking.
Got her all changed and ready to go home - and she wants to go back in.

Can't wait til she is a little taller and we can go on the other slides. Maybe next year.

Good bye dear friend

Jibe went to Heaven the other night. She was an amazing companion. I had adopted her my second year of vet school - we've been through a lot together. She will be deeply missed.

New Roof

Well when we bought the house we knew it needed a new roof. So four days after our closing our roofers were up there - tearing off the old roof and putting on a new roof. I must say they did a great job. If any one needs any roof repairs please let me know so I can give you their name and number. They started at 7:30 in the morning and were there until 9 pm working on our roof - finished it in three days - amazing.
They placed added needed support along the roof line.
End of day one
There was a lot of water issues - mold issues and areas were rotten. They actually removed the gable off the front of the house - still need to get some gutters.
No more gable :( little sad but will help in the long run with proper drainage.

We've Moved

Good bye Jackson Hello New Egypt. We sold our house and moved so I can be closer to work and have Katie closer to me. I fell in love with the house the first time I saw it in November. It has been a long process to finally get into it but here we are.
We both love the thought of being able to park in the garage - we will see how that pans out. Behind the garage is a huge room - which Bill will make his work shop and hobby room.
The kitchen is wonderful. Still missing a refrigerator - that's the plan for today - buy a fridge.
I think this will be our formal dining room - will eventually pull up the rugs. There was a working wood burning stove that the previous owners closed off , we will most likely replace it and heat the house with it again ( we loved the one in Jackson ).
Our living room - furniture comes next week. Has a pass-through into the kitchen - very nice.
Big backyard - will have to work on Bill to get a pool in there somewhere, maybe also a garden.
Back of the house.
The room has a lot of little specialties for Katie. She has this little door that opens into her room - she loves it.

I decorated in Hello Kitty for now - we will see how long that lasts. She wanted a pink and purple room. It was actually purple to start and has a very faded purple carpet. One wall had wallpaper which we took off and painted pink.
Found these online - cute little "stickers" that easily remove from the wall. So when she decides shes tired of Hello Kitty we don't have to repaint the whole wall.
Still need to repaint her bathroom ( purple and pink ) , but for now she is happy with the Hello Kitty.
